Some of the Metaview team will be in Seattle next week for Talent42. In preparation for the event, I spent some time checking out QR Art. This is a new way of using AI to generate QR codes blended with art.
I created a sample below of the Seattle skyline as a QR code, to use as a business card - who wouldn’t want to scan that!?
📰 Quick AI update
🇺🇸 Biden meets with AI experts
🗣️ President Biden is flying to San Francisco to pick the brains of eight AI experts, in an effort to help the U.S. government get a handle on regulating this fast-paced technology.
👥 His chat squad includes big names like Tristan Harris from Center for Humane Technology, Jim Steyer of Common Sense Media, Joy Buolamwini from the Algorithmic Justice League, and Sal Khan from Khan Academy.

☠️ AI in recruitment: the death knell of the CV? (Financial Times)
AI is shaking up the job hunting scene, from application drafting to interview prepping:
🤖 Job search engine Adzuna introduces 'Prepper', an AI bot that gives free personalized interview coaching. It generates tailored questions and gives feedback based on specific job descriptions.
📚 Generative AI tools like ChatGPT, Bard, and Claude are offering a new breed of support, assisting applicants with everything from drafting CVs to preparing for interviews.
👥 But, it's not all rosy. Critics warn that the rise of AI might signal the end of traditional job application processes. Ethical implementation and the ability to maintain a personal touch are concerns that need to be addressed.
🚀 Nonetheless, graduates are finding value in AI assistance to navigate the often overwhelming and competitive job market. AI not only helps break initial barriers but also, when used thoughtfully, offers a competitive edge.

🔎 A.I. and Candidate Quality (Kevin Wheeler)
In this piece, Kevin Wheeler looks at two big questions: “What defines a high-quality candidate” and “What makes a good candidate different from a great one?”
The guidelines here attempt to help clarify and make the answer to these questions easier:
1️⃣ Establish the 'quality' with the hiring manager: Start with a clear understanding of exceptional performance. Let data guide the decision-making.📊
2️⃣ Focus on outputs, not inputs: Judge potential hires by their accomplishments, not just their qualifications or personality. Set measurable, objective performance goals.🥇
3️⃣ Embrace the power of data: Look for patterns in actions, skills, and behaviors of employees who have consistently met their goals. Don't just rely on education or cultural fit.📈
4️⃣ Leverage AI: AI can crunch vast data volumes and predict future performance. It can provide deeper insights into candidates' skills and potential, improving the hiring process. But remember, with great power comes great responsibility - especially when it comes to privacy and bias.🔍
