This week’s digest
I had some discussions recently with Siadhal Magos about an interesting concept, where AI leads to a world with more recruiters, not less.
Imagine a world where AI doesn't replace recruiters but makes them indispensable.
Have you heard of the Jevons Paradox? It's an intriguing economic principle that as technological progress makes a resource more efficiently used, the demand for it actually increases rather than decreases. Take cheaper fuel as an example. If I can drive twice as far with the same amount of fuel, does that halve my fuel consumption - not necessarily. I may decide, that now I’ll drive even more. (forget about 10k steps - I’m driving.)
Could this paradox apply to recruiters in the age of AI?
Reflect on the Industrial Revolution, a time when machinery started taking over manual labor. Did human labor vanish? Far from it. New roles emerged, demanding skills that only humans could provide, and as a result, the demand for skilled labor shot up.
In a similar vein, consider AI tools like automated interview note-taking, intelligent candidate sourcing, and job matching. These innovations relieve recruiters from the burdens of routine tasks, freeing up time for what really matters: forming meaningful connections, assessing cultural fit, and strategic decision-making.
As recruiters leverage AI and become more efficient, their value doesn't decrease. Rather, similar to what happened during the Industrial Revolution, demand for their skillset could increase. Why? Companies may see the potential in recruiters who are more efficient. Those that can adeptly combine AI technology with their human skills to deliver superior results.

🎧 ChatGPT applied to sourcing (Vanessa Rath, Robin Choy)
🌟 In this chat, Vanessa Rath and Robin Choy discuss how leveraging ChatGPT can enhance sourcing tasks: Generating boolean strings and Writing outreach messages. 💬💼
1️⃣ Generate boolean strings:
Writing boolean strings can be tedious, but ChatGPT excels at it. You can ask it to create targeted strings for specific skill sets or even generate strings with information you don't have. Just remember to double-check the results as they may not always be accurate or exhaustive. 🎯🔍

2️⃣ Generate outreach messages:
When it comes to writing outreach messages, ChatGPT proves particularly useful. By providing advanced prompts and guiding the AI, recruiters can draft impactful and engaging messages that get replies from candidates. Refining the message may require additional prompts, but the end result can be a high-performing outreach email. 📧✉️
