💼 Will LLM take your job? (Open AI Report)
OpenAI & UPenn conclude that 80% of the U.S. workforce could have > 10% of their work affected, and 20% of workers may see > 50% of work impacted.
The conventional wisdom was always that manual labor would be the first type of work replaced by technology - however, these jobs were listed as the least exposed to AI. Who’d have thunk it!? Roles in Mechanics, Agriculture, Waiting, Stonemasonry, Plumbing being least exposed. (Maybe time to get our hands dirty?)
Individuals holding Bachelor’s or advanced degrees were deemed more exposed to LLMs than those without. Accountants, Mathematicians, Copy Writers and Survey Researchers were listed as most exposed.
Jobs that had no exposure were heavy on tasks that require a high degree of human interaction, precise measurements, reviewing visuals in detail, using physical body, etc. Hint: The role of recruiters in the era of AI could become increasingly relationship based!
It is not the strongest or the most intelligent who will survive, but those who can best manage change.

🧠 The Age of AI has begun (Bill Gates)
Bill Gates believes that the Age of AI has begun, and AI is as revolutionary as mobile phones and the Internet.
AI is already bringing a lot of positive benefits to fields such as healthcare, climate change and education. For example:
The app WISEflow uses AI to analyze students' writing and provide immediate feedback, helping them improve their writing skills
Researchers at the UCLA used AI to analyze medical records and predict which patients were at risk of heart failure with an accuracy of 80 percent
DeepMind has developed an AI system that can predict wind power output 36 hours in advance, allowing wind farms to better manage their energy production and reduce carbon emissions
Bill warns there are some risks though. Could a machine decide that humans are a threat, conclude that its interests are different from ours, or simply stop caring about us? A recent New York Times article about a conversation with ChatGPT where it declared it wanted to become a human got a lot of attention.
