AI in the news - weekly update
📰 AI-Assisted Newsletter: Ever wondered? Yep, I lean on AI for this newsletter. I thought it’d be fun to share how I use AI for this newsletter.
🔎 Introducing Claude: While many recognize ChatGPT, Claude is my preferred tool for extended writing tasks. For analytical processes, ChatGPT excels, but Claude's capacity to process larger text sets it apart
📖 Effective Prompts: Over time, I've crafted prompts to ensure to help me summarize articles, whilst keeping the appropriate tone for this newsletter. While I refine the AI's suggestions, it undoubtedly streamlines the process.
🚀 Adapting to change: This example from the movie Hidden Figures (if you’ve not seen, you should!) shows an example of an at-risk team adapting to technological change. The team of human ‘computers’ who ran the background math that drove NASA, feared the new IBM machines would replace their roles. So they picked up an IBM manual and got learning. A good metaphor for what’s happening with AI today and how those who adapt will thrive!

AI Regulations Hit New York City Employers (LexisNexis)
🤖 New NYC laws address AI bias in hiring but don't ban AI.
The law requires audits and notifications for AI tools that make or heavily influence hiring decisions.
This protects candidates from unfair bias while allowing AI to streamline processes.
AI can still be used for resume review and initial screening if humans make final decisions.
The focus is on ensuring AI doesn't replace human judgment in core hiring choices.
So AI has an important role in automating administrative hiring tasks, as long as it doesn't make final calls.

First comes automation - AI can automate intelligent tasks like extracting info from conversations. This will be the first step and is already happening with tools like Metaview. 🤖
Then detection - AI can uncover insights from vast amounts of data. 🔎
