Artificial Empathy (Trishan Panch)
In this Ted Talk, Panch discusses the limitations of artificial intelligence in demonstrating human qualities like empathy. He proposes the concept of "artificial empathy" - AI that can mimic empathy to be useful even if not truly empathetic. 🧠
How this may be relevant to recruiting?:
Empathy matters in recruiting relationships
AI chatbots show promise mimicking empathy
Ethical training of AI will be critical
Artificial empathy may impact recruiter-candidate dynamics
Recruiter Enablement (Adam Gordon, Lyndsey Taylor)
In this conversation Adam Gordon and Kerry’s Lyndsey Taylor, discuss the broad topic of recruiter enablement. Part of the conversation (@7mins 20sec) focuses on how Kerry brought automation and AI into their recruiting workflows:
Lyndsey mentions Kerry's 'Global Candidate Care' conversational AI which helps candidates self-serve FAQs. This can save time for recruiters to focus on the more differentiated parts of their role. ⏰
Automating scheduling complex interviews with multiple leaders is a game changer. 📆
Survey finds relatively few Americans actually use (or fear) ChatGPT (TechCrunch)
If you’re subscribed to this newsletter, you’re probably already well ahead of most people in the AI adoption / learning curve. 📈 Despite the AI hype, ChatGPT hasn't taken over just yet. Here's the scoop from recent Pew Research polling:
💻 Despite all the hype and buzz, still only 18% of Americans have used ChatGPT so far - although it continues gaining mindshare fast!
🍿 More people have used it for entertainment than work. "Write a fairy tale about Timothée Chalamet" is more common than automation.
📊 Only 19% of employed people who’d heard of the model thought it would affect their job in a major way, and 27% expect no impact whatsoever. Only 15% see it as helpful. Tech, education and finance expect the most impact.
ChatGPT has skyrocketed in awareness, but many are still yet to use it, especially for purposes related to work.

Big List of 100 Recruiter Skills (and their exposure to AI) (Hung Lee)
🤖 Hung Lee did something cool: he had ChatGPT analyze and rank 100 key recruiter skills by AI exposure.
Here's how:
Asked ChatGPT to act as a workforce analyst focused on recruiting
Had it list 100 skills in a table format
Added columns for AI exposure % and AI use cases
Ranked the skills 1-100 based on AI disintermediation risk
The result is a handy resource for recruiters to proactively apply AI and identify resilient skills. Hung suggests using it for career and department planning.
