Recruiter's AI Digest #3
Resources and perspectives to keep you ahead of the curve as AI deepens its impact in Recruiting. 🤖
Given our work at Metaview, we’ve been spending a lot of time speaking to recruiters about AI. A common theme is that people are finding it hard to stay on top AI content / tools, with the rapid pace of progression. Well - they’re not alone. The big story this week was that 2,500 signatories (including Elon Musk) want AI to take a chill pill. We’ll cover why Elon’s worried, and also look at how Hiring Managers can avoid the dangerous misuse of AI - let’s dive in! 🔍
“With great power, comes great responsibility.”

🦿Pause Giant AI Experiments: An Open Letter
Elon Musk and Steve Wozniak, along with over 2,500 AI researchers, have signed an open letter calling for a pause in the development of large AI systems. Here are the highlights:
Large AI systems could spell trouble, from job loss to political manipulation and unintentional bias.
The authors want more research and a multidisciplinary approach to help mitigate these risks.
They also want more transparency and accountability from the folks developing AI systems.
The letter's signatories think we should hit pause on the AI systems until we've got more robust safety measures in place. They hope this call to action will lead to a more responsible and inclusive development of AI systems.
⛔️ How Hiring Managers Can Avoid Dangerous Misuses of Generative AI (Recruiting Daily)
Although generative AI (AI that can generate realistic images, sounds, and text) is pretty cool, there's also some potential for things to go wrong, especially in hiring. Here's what you need to know:
Generative AI can be used to create fake resumes and job candidates that look and sound real, but are actually completely made up.
Some companies are using generative AI to create biased job descriptions or target job ads to specific demographics, which can lead to discrimination.
The key is to use generative AI in a responsible and ethical manner. That means being transparent about its use, using it to augment rather than replace human decision-making, and continually monitoring and adjusting for bias.

🧬 What is a human’s place in the AI future of work? (Fast Company)
“Humans will always crave human affection, human understanding.”
According to some experts, even though our work and workplaces are becoming more saturated with data and automation, humans will become even more important.
“[Our] differentiating angle will be to develop and cultivate our emotional intelligence, our social skills, and our ability to feel what others feel and connect with them.”
At times like this it’s important to think about how recruiters can leverage AI to improve their productivity, and focus on the more human aspects of recruiting.
