Talent Fusion Berlin: Tips for adopting AI
(TA Crunch)
Yesterday, some of the Metaview team had the chance to go to (and demo at!) TA Crunch’s latest event in Berlin, hosted at Tourlane's offices. Andreea Lungulescu brought together experts like Manjuri Sinha (OLX), Sérgio Laranjeira (Delivery Hero), and John Kasang (Mister Spex) to explore the strategic role of talent acquisition in corporations and scale-ups. One of the topics touched on was ‘advice for adopting AI tools.’ I’ve shared some of the panels insights below:
AI-Human Collaboration:
🤖 Manjuri shared a compelling example from OLX, where they introduced an internal coaching bot. This bot has been used as a people manager, allowing individuals to give feedback and concerns about work. Manjuri even mentioned some individuals felt more comfortable sharing this info with a bot vs. a real person!
😌 John elaborated on how AI can liberate HR teams from monotonous tasks, such as resume screening. This liberation allows HR professionals to channel their efforts toward more valuable activities like building relationships with candidates and improving the hiring process.
Upskilling and Support:
📚 John underscored the significance of upskilling HR teams in the age of AI. He emphasized that providing training and resources is essential for HR professionals to effectively leverage AI technologies.
🤗 The panel collectively stressed the importance of offering support and assistance to HR professionals during their adaptation to AI technologies. They recognized that the transition may be challenging, and providing guidance and empathy is crucial.
Wise AI Investments:
💰 Manjuri cautioned against relying too heavily on tools that make final recruitment decisions.
🔍 The speakers recommended conducting Proof of Concepts (POCs) before making substantial investments in AI tools. They also encouraged a thorough evaluation of whether AI addresses the root causes of issues or merely symptomatic problems, ensuring that investments are strategic.
Some of our team will be at the Tech Recruitment Conference in Amsterdam next week - make sure to come say hello to the Metaview team if you’re there! 🇳🇱
Why AI isn't going to be the death of recruitment...
(James Vizor, RULE Recruitment)
In a world where AI often gets painted as the villain stealing jobs, this piece sets the record straight: your job in recruitment is safe.
🤝 The Power of Personal Touch: Recruitment isn't just about algorithms; it's about relationships. AI can't replicate the empathetic and advisory role of a human recruiter.
🌐 AI's Current Limitations: While AI is a gamechanger, it's not as advanced as we might think. ChatGPT, for instance, struggles to mimic human interaction effectively.
🔧 AI as a Tool, Not a Replacement: AI should be viewed as an automation tool, enhancing recruiters' daily tasks. It can streamline processes, help with candidate pre-qualification, and even provide industry knowledge to newcomers.
😱 The AI Scaremongering: The media often sensationalizes AI's impact on jobs. While some jobs may change, the recruitment industry's adaptability makes it unlikely to be significantly disrupted.

Worried AI will take your job? The history of Excel should give you hope.
(Nico Orie, VP People Coca Cola)
Remember the days when Excel was seen as a disruptive force in the business world? This post takes a trip down memory lane, exploring how Excel transformed industries, shares some missteps along the way, and draws parallels to the potential impact of AI on jobs.
📅 The Spreadsheet Revolution: The advent of spreadsheet programs like VisiCalc, Lotus 1-2-3, and Microsoft Excel had a profound impact on businesses, enabling better financial management and even shaping industries like Private Equity.
💼 Transformation of Finance Jobs: Spreadsheets didn't just change how businesses operated; they also transformed jobs in finance departments, creating new roles and responsibilities.
🧐 AI and Job Disruption: As AI becomes a hot topic, there are concerns about job displacement. However, history shows that technology tends to augment, not replace, jobs. Just as Excel didn't eliminate finance roles but changed them, AI is likely to chisel away at automatable tasks, leaving humans to adapt and thrive in evolving roles.
📈 Evidence from the Past: A study by Morgan Stanley reveals that the introduction of Microsoft Excel led to changes in the job landscape. While some roles declined, others, like accountants/auditors and financial managers, saw growth. Technology opens doors to new opportunities even as it streamlines certain tasks.

Job Ads & AI – The Prompt Trap
(Morgan Philips Group)
In this article by Morgan Philips Group, uncover how AI, like ChatGPT, can transform job descriptions while staying vigilant about potential pitfalls:
Let's 😃 dive into how recruiters can use AI like ChatGPT to craft stellar ✨ job descriptions! 📋
AI like ChatGPT can help generate job descriptions quickly, but prompts need to be carefully crafted to get good results:
Analyze existing job descriptions to build a prompts list for new ones 📝
Determine structure (chronological, deductive, strategic/operational) and specify in prompts ➡️
Use active voice, avoid nominal style; vary sentence structure
Summarize purpose/aim of role in 2-3 sentences
Use bullet points for tasks to avoid improper shortening
Leverage AI to brainstorm creative headlines, but review for relevance 💡
Carefully review and edit AI output to match company voice 🗣
Human oversight key to ensure branding alignment 👀
