Introducing GPTs in ChatGPT
(OpenAI)
One of they major announcements from OpenAI’s DevDay this week was the introduction of GPTs…
OpenAI introduced GPTs, customizable conversational AI systems you can build and sell on their new GPT Store. It's like having your own personal AI app store where you can both create and monetize your GPTs. 💼🤖
Building a GPT doesn't require coding skills, and they can be as straightforward or intricate as needed. Imagine a GPT for cooking recipes or aiding software development. 👩🍳👨💻
The process of creating a GPT is as simple as chatting with ChatGPT to describe what you want it to do, then training it with relevant data. Soon, OpenAI will let users bring in external services for added functionality. 🛠️
With the GPT Store set to launch later this month, creators can earn revenue based on user engagement. OpenAI will highlight top GPTs in various categories, and while initial offerings may feature more official apps, individual creativity is the star of the show. 🌟💰
It’s available for Plus users today.

Former Apple designers launch $700 Humane AI Pin as smartphone replacement
(Hu.ma.ne)
Humane's AI Pin, spearheaded by former Apple designers, is hitting the scenes as a hands-free, AI-powered wearable, taking tech wearables to an avant-garde level. 📌✨
A distinguishing feature is the laser projection system that works on various skin tones and environments, making it adaptable and inclusive. It's primarily a voice-first device but kicks in with projections when needed. 🗣️
With an initial batch of 100,000 units, Humane is testing the waters for demand, offering "priority access" to its early sign-ups. They're clearly prepping for a significant rollout early next year. 🛍️
At its core, the AI Pin is leveraging the buzz around generative AI, with OpenAI and Microsoft among the first collaborators mentioned. Humane’s ambitions seem to be setting the stage for a mixed AI-service platform. 🤝💡

This AI Bot Fills Out Job Applications for You While You Sleep
(WIRED)
Check out this article about the job application AI bot that's doing rounds: "This AI Bot Fills Out Job Applications for You While You Sleep." 🌙🤖
LazyApply, an AI service, allows users to auto-apply to thousands of jobs with just one click, saving the pain of manual job hunting. 🚀
Julian Joseph, a software engineer, used LazyApply to apply to 5,000 jobs, which led to about 20 interviews. Despite a low success rate, he values the time saved. ⏱️🎯
The service is a boon for job seekers tired of the hiring process's grind, especially with hiring times peaking at 44 days. But, it's not without errors, sometimes guessing application questions, leading to mixed results. ❓🤷♂️
Recruiters are skeptical, as mass applications may signal a lack of seriousness about the role. Yet, some are open-minded, considering the efficiency of getting a resume through any means. 📊📝

From ATS To ChatGPT: Understanding The New Job Search Landscape
(Forbes, James Hudson)
Post-pandemic job market shifts and misinformation are causing a "perfect storm" in job searching, with AI like Bard and ChatGPT changing the game. 🌪️💼
The job market is tough with more people vying for fewer positions, especially as remote work becomes more sought-after. While remote jobs make up 14% of listings, they receive over half of all applications. 🖥️📈
Applicant Tracking Systems (ATS) still don't use AI to reject applications. Instead, they act as a digital filing system, leaving many applications unseen due to sheer volume. 📂👀
With the industry poised for a shakeup, AI's first big impact will likely be customer-facing roles rather than HR, which traditionally receives less investment. 🤖💰
Networking and leveraging referrals remain key, as referred candidates are often fast-tracked and stand a better chance of hiring success. 🤝🌟
For recruiters reading this, it's a reminder that while tech advances, the human touch in networking and referrals is still your ace in the hole. Keep an eye on AI developments, but don't forget the power of a good old-fashioned handshake (or LinkedIn connection)! 👋🔗
Elon Musk unveils Grok, an AI chatbot with a ‘rebellious streak’
(The Guardian)
Elon Musk is stirring the pot again with his new AI chatbot, Grok, and here's the quick lowdown:
Grok is Musk's latest creation, offering premium subscribers a chatbot with an edge. 🚀
The bot is quirky, tapping into the data pool of X user posts, and comes equipped with a rebellious, sarcastic streak, making interactions more lively. 🎤
Musk showcased Grok's sass with a demo where it humorously (and safely) navigates a question about making cocaine. 🚫🧪
Currently in the early testing phase, Grok is exclusive to a select group but is expected to broaden its digital horizons soon. 🔐📈
The AI underlying Grok is said to perform well, even exceeding some capabilities of OpenAI's GPT-3.5 model, though it still trails behind the more robust GPT-4. 🧠⚖️
OpenAI’s Sam Altman had a stab at Musk on X, with this tweet, poking fun at Grok’s ‘embedded humor’:
