Alternate Careers for Recruiters - Don't Get Left Behind
(Kevin Wheeler)
TLDR: AI is changing recruitment, making some traditional skills obsolete. Recruiters should consider these new career paths.
As AI and automation reshape the recruitment industry, many traditional skills are becoming obsolete. Kevin Wheeler highlights the impact of AI on recruiters' careers and suggests for those in areas heavily impacted by automation, considering alternative career paths that leverage existing skills and experience:
Sales and Business Development: Recruiters can use their interpersonal skills and industry knowledge to excel in sales roles, such as selling HR tech solutions, where their experience in candidate sourcing translates to lead generation.
Marketing and Employer Branding: Recruiters with experience in creating employer brands can transition into marketing roles. For example, a recruiter specializing in social media recruitment could become a social media marketing manager, using their understanding of target audiences to develop engagement strategies.
Project Management: The organizational and coordination skills used in recruitment are valuable in project management roles. A corporate recruiter could manage cross-functional initiatives or product launches within their current company.
Adaptability and proactive planning are crucial for success in the AI-driven future.

(Fortune)
TLDR: It’s super easy for non-technical people to build with AI now. Also AI hackathons are becoming popular as a way to get employees bought in and involved with bringing AI into the organization
HR executives are now creating their own AI tools, offering tailored solutions for their organizations. Kathleen Pearson, global chief talent officer at McDermott Will & Emery, developed a chatbot to support young professionals. Key points include:
Creation of "Ask Jane": Pearson built a chatbot, "Ask Jane," to provide career advice and support for Gen Z employees. The bot offers resume analysis, mock interviews, and advice in multiple languages.
User-Friendly AI Development: The bot's creation demonstrates that non-programmers can develop impactful AI tools, making tech accessible for HR teams.
Encouraging Innovation: McDermott Will & Emery hosted a "prompt-a-thon," encouraging employees to pitch their own AI solutions.
